In Deuteronomy 34 we read that the Lord allowed Moses to climb Mount Nebo and view the promised land.  He was shown the entire land in detail and was allowed to view it.  Those who are familar with the story know that this was due to earlier disobedience on the part of Moses (although we should remember that his live overall was highly rated).  That is where we usually end the story of Moses as he died shortly afterwards with God’s word holding true, he never did personally enter the land.  However it is important to note that God’s grace is so much more wonderful than we could ever imagine.  Although he did not enter the land we cannot tell how much pain and heartache he avoided by not doing so .  The people we known for rebelling against Moses and their entry to the land was by no means streight forward.  No instead Moses next turns up in the Bible in Luke 9, v 30 – “Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus”.  God grants that Moses does stand in the very midst of the promised land many years later with one of the greatest prophets that ever lived and the Lord Jesus himself!  Imagine for Moses thinking that it was all over, and God instead allowing him to stand in the very place with Jesus at one of the most special moments in his earthly ministry!  There is no doubt that if we disobey God we do loose out on blessings.  But if we obey we should never be disapointed if something does not work out.  “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8, 28).  God does not withhold good from those who love him and we just never know what wonders await us in the life to come
